The primary law enforcement agency in Hawaii is the Sheriff Division, which operates under the Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement. The Sheriff Division is responsible
for statewide law enforcement duties, including prisoner transport and security at the Honolulu International Airport. In addition to the Sheriff Division, Hawaii also has
specialized agencies such as the Narcotics Enforcement Division and the Criminal Investigation Division, both of which focus on specific areas of law enforcement.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Police is another key agency, tasked with enforcing laws related to state parks, boating, fishing, and wildlife conservation.
Hawaii is currently considering the creation of a state police force
in addition to the State Sheriffs Division.
