The primary law enforcement agency in Delaware is the Delaware State Police (DSP), which handles highway patrol, criminal investigations, and statewide emergency response. DSP is a part of the states Department of Safety & Homeland Security. Delaware's Department of Safety & Homeland Security also includes the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE), and Capitol Police. Other key agencies include the Delaware Department of Justice, which oversees criminal prosecutions and legal affairs for the state, and the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, which is responsible for enforcing laws related to wildlife conservation, hunting, fishing, and natural resource protection.
